The Value of Travel

103 100
Having a business background and financial experience, I see vacationing and the travel industry in a slightly different light than most.
Every day, clients call in, looking for ideas and places to go on their vacation.
Some opt for grand cruises on the Oasis of the Seas or Allure of the Seas, others for weekend getaways.
Yet each one of my clients shares a common bond: they hold a value to their vacation.
Vacations are investments - investment of your time, money, and passion.
In other words, what is this retreat that you are planning WORTH to you? Is it the mental break from your BlackBerry? Is it finding a way to use up your 2 weeks time that your job allotted you? Is it the anticipation building as you put away money into your vacation fund each month? Putting aside time and money for a family vacation requires preparation and a regimen so that in the end you expect your vacation to be well worth it.
As any financial adviser will tell you, investments must be protected.
While you may be planning for a beautiful retirement, not assessing your risk portfolio may be your downfall in the long run.
In the travel industry, our risks range from weather to last minute family emergencies, all of which need to be accounted for.
Having invested so much to rearrange your time and finances for your vacation, a dependable travel agent and a trusted travel insurance are a sensible solution to offset any risks.
Considering the cost of insurance a small percentage of your complete package, the potential loss is much more staggering.
Lost baggage, delayed flights, inclement weather - all that cannot be controlled, is at risk of devaluing your investment.
When picking a travel destination or selecting a cruise, it must have some meaning to you.
In that sense, vacations are investments as well - as the weeks leading up to your departure, you begin picking outfits, conversing with friends all the exciting landmarks you will see, maybe even reading up on some history particular to the area, essentially building up the value of YOUR vacation.
I truly believe that when you purchase your vacation, you are paying for so much more than the days set for your route.
It's the excitement of preparations, the anxiousness for it all to begin, and the memories that will forever be with you.
