Schools for Gifted ADD Kids in British Columbia

  Students who are gifted may learn more quickly and/or more deeply than their peers. They can thrive in a regular education classroom as long as their teachers provide them with open-ended challenges and the chance to learn at their own pace. Students with attention deficit disorder, or ADD, have a hard time focusing on and completing assignments. They need schools and teachers who will work with their strengths and help them succeed in their own way.
  
  

Choice School

• Choice School works with gifted and twice exceptional (meaning those are gifted in certain areas and struggling in others) students exclusively. The school is accustomed to working with gifted students who also have ADD. Class sizes are small, and students have the opportunity to study many electives of their choice. Aspengrove School

• Aspengrove School is a private preschool through 12th-grade school that features an International Baccalaureate curriculum and degree. The school focuses on interdisciplinary project-based learning that is excellent for gifted students. The small class sizes allow teachers to work with ADD students more closely and help them become more successful.

The Vancouver Waldorf School

• Waldorf education focuses on student engagement, the integration of arts and movement into academic areas, and support for the student's emotional well-being. Critical thinking skills are emphasized, as are individual instruction and emotional support. A gifted student with ADD gets support for her challenges as well as her abilities. The Vancouver Waldorf school curriculum includes reading, writing, math, science, social studies, French, music, movement and physical education, and handwork.
