How to Create a Native American Headdress
- 1). Measure your head using a tape measure, rounding up to the closest half inch.
- 2). Cut a piece of corrugated cardboard that is 1.5 inches wide and at least 2 inches longer than the size of your head. This is to make sure that the completed headdress will fit comfortably on your head without being too small.
- 3). Place feathers, any color or style of your choosing in order to personalize and customize the headdress, into the holes along the top edge of the strip of cardboard you are using as the headband.
- 4). Decorate the headband by placing a strip of colored construction paper over the cardboard and securing it using glue or paste. The best colors to use to create an authentic-looking headdress are red and brown, however, you may use any color that you wish.
- 5). Wrap the cardboard headband into a circle, overlapping the two ends that meet each other.
- 6). Punch a hole through the portion of the headband that overlaps onto itself and place a paper fastener into the hole, spreading the prongs of the fastener once you have pulled it through the hole, in order to hold it in place.
