What Is the Difference Between the I3-350M & the I5-430M?
- The i3-350M and the i5-430M are similar is several ways. They both have the same clock speed of 2.6 GHz, meaning that have very similar performance. In addition to clock speed, they are both dual-core processors, so they have similar performance while multitasking. They also support the same amount of computer memory, up to 8 gigabytes. Both chips support hyper-threading, which further improves performance while multitasking.
- The i5-430M has slightly better graphics max dynamics frequency at 766 MHz, compared to the i3-350M's 667 MHz. This means that the i5-430M has better graphics performance, but this specification will not matter as much if you are using a 3-D accelerated video card.
- One of the most important features of the i5 line of processors is Intel Turbo Boost Technology. This feature allows the chip to perform at a higher clock rate, depending upon several circumstances. Some dependent factors include chip temperature, number of active cores, current consumption and power consumption. If any of these factors are below average levels, the i5-430M can increase its clock rate from 2.26 GHz up to a maximum of 2.53 GHz.
- The only other difference is in price, which is minor. The i5-430M sells for approximately $130, while the i3-350M sells for as little as $114.
