- 1). Shut down all applications. Turn off your laptop.
- 2). Unplug all devices, remove the battery and disconnect the electrical cord.
- 3). Touch a unpainted piece of metal to remove the static electricity from your body and clothes.
- 4). Flip the laptop over and find the memory compartment door. Remove the screws on the door and remove it from the laptop.
- 5). Separate the two clips on either side of the existing memory module. Slide the memory module out of the slot.
- 6). Match the knob on the new memory module with the notch in the slot. Slide the new memory module into the slot. Press down on it slightly so it lays in the compartment flat. It will snap into place.
- 7). Put the compartment door back on the laptop. Fasten the screws. Put the battery back in the laptop. Reconnect the electrical cord and all of the devices.
