Just Break The Rules (and Stop "should-ing" All Over Yourself)

Why are you doing what you do in your business? Is it because you were told that you should? That its the only acceptable way? That its ethical to charge this way and not that? That you must advertise in one area and not another because its just the way its done? Well not to go Dr. Phil on you, but Id like to just ask, Hows that working for ya?

Recently at our Book More Brides Tour and in our Bride Attraction Bootcamp, we spent a lot of time talking about breaking the rules and doing business as UNusual. And the funny thing is that when the vendors there starting breaking these so-called rules of business, they actually started making MONEY imagine that?!

Why did breaking the rules turn into sa1es in business? Because when you stop following everyone else because youre supposed to, and instead follow your heart and gut instincts, huge shifts happen. Youll find that youre being more yourself. For instance, one of our clients, Cheryl (floral designer), discovered that by simply embracing more of her own personality and not trying to be this stuffy business person she always thought she should be, she starting closing sa1e after sa1e after sa1e. Nothing high tech or expensive happened in making changes to her business. She just broke those stupid rules!

Another client, Vernessa (wedding planner) also started breaking the rules.
She also discovered that if she stopped going after all those brides and spreading her focus too thinly and INSTEAD focused on her niche and ideal brides, miracles happened in her wedding business.

Yet another client, Erica (UK-based wedding planner), discovered that she didnt fit in with the local brides at all because she played by a whole different set of rules. So, she stopped targeting local brides (even though thats what she should do), and started targeting destination brides from the US planning weddings in England. What a gold mine Erica discovered!

So what exactly am I saying? To put it bluntly, stop should-ing all over yourself. If you march to the beat of a different drummer, fine! Dont fight it. Work with THAT rhythm thats where miracles happen in business.
Being different is what truly eliminates competition. And the very nature of being a human is that we are all truly unique and different. In fact, its our birthright. So instead of ignoring this innate gift that you were literally born with, go with the flow! Let go of those oars that youre rowing so fiercely fighting the current and just go with the flow and watch magic take place before your very eyes in your bridal business!
