Bands That Are Only Booked For Part of The Tour... (Cont.)

106 41

I See Stars (Warren, MI) – It might be worth noting that this group shares the same hometown as Eminem, but probably not, as that’s all they have in common. I See Stars mixes electronic beats, hardcore riffs and a liberal dose of screaming on top of synthesized vocals into something that’s not like Mr. Mathers at all. (MySpace Site) Appearing 6/24-7/18

iwrestledabearonce (Shreveport, LA) – Another dynamic band on Warped this year, iwrestledabearonce defies description by mixing death metal with electronica and massive amounts of high weirdness.

Vocalist Krysta Cameron drops death metal vocals that drop seamlessly in Bjorkish melodies, and somehow also gets the crowd to jazzercize. MySpace Site Appearing 7/20-8/15

The Jukebox Romantics (New York, NY) – A punchy New York blue collar punk band in the vein of Bouncing Souls and Madcap, The Jukebox Romantics play pop punk drinking anthems that are fast, upbeat and a whole lot of fun, and are not at all frightened to drop the occasional rocksteady or ska sound into their music. (MySpace Site) Appearing 8/7-15

Last Call Chernobyl (Halifax, NS) - These guys hold the distinction of being the first band named for the 2010 lineup, when the prog-metal band won the Nova Scotia Music Week Warped Tour Battle of the bands, and were chosen by Warped Tour Founder Kevin Lyman to play on the Ernie Ball Stage. (MySpace Site) Appearing 6/27-7/10

Longway (Orange County, CA) – I’m always glad to see this band return to the lineup, because they are a band that personifies the sound - just a bunch of tattooed blue-collar punks who play passionate street punk with a hint of rockabilly.

(MySpace Site) Appearing 8/5-15

Manic Hispanic (Los Angeles, CA) – A punk supergroup made up of Chicano members from a wide range of legendary punk bands that plays cover versions of punk rock and hardcore classics and adjust the lyrics to address Chicano culture. Even if you don’t know the words, you’ll still be able to hum along. (MySpace Site) (Dates TBA)

Middle Finger Salute (Northwest, UK) – This pop punk band is still unsigned, despite this being their second Warped run and the fact that they have toured with Rancid, Stiff Little Fingers and tons more. Maybe this year’s stint on the Warped Tour will help this group that is heavily influenced by those same tourmates. (MySpace Site) Appearing 7/11-7/26

The Mighty Regis (Los Angeles, CA) – Flogging Molly may not be on this year’s Warped Tour, but The Mighty Regis will be, along with Flatfoot 56, supplying Celtic punk for those with the hankering for it. Originally from the Northwest Counties of Ireland, The Mighty Regis is a band populated with misfits, an ex-con and a failed soccer player, and the music they play presents the Irish punk feeling that only those who’ve lived it can. (MySpace Site) Appearing 6/24-7/22

Monkey (Cupertino, CA) – Another rocksteady ska crew, Monkey is a high-energy six-piece outfit that plays old school ska reggae, the way it sounded before the third wave grabbed hold. (MySpace Site)Appearing 6/24-6/27

Motion City Soundtrack (Minneapolis, MN) – This pop punk group that has been riding higher with each new album, mainly because they are touring constantly. This year marks their major label debut, and they’re sure to bring some perfectly polished pop along for the party. (Official Site) Appearing 6/24-7/18

Neo Geo (Orange County, CA) – Electro-laden rock with a liberal sprinkling of new wave sounds and punk attitude, I’d like to see this be the band that knocks pretenders like Shiny Toy Guns off their glittery high horses. (MySpace Site) Appearing 8/7-15

The New Cities (Trois-Rivieres, QU) - This Canadian synth-pop powerhouse came to play, and they brought their keyboards. They are all about making you dance, and if you're not in to their stuff... well you can just make your way to the next stage and make room for the 12-year old girls who do like they're doing. (Official Site) Appearing 7/10,7/19

New Years Day (Anaheim, CA) - A pop punk trio with a female vocalist, this band made a big splash on the scene a few years age with infectious melodies and catchy lyrics. They faded away for a few years due to label issues, but are now back and ready to grab some notice again. (MySpace Site) Appearing 6/27-7/8

Our Last Night (Hollis, NH) – An Epitaph Records contribution to this year’s Warped Tour, Our Last Night are a post-hardcore band that employ serious tight hardcore riffs with big broad instrumental and vocal landscapes. Unfortunately, they have one of those screaming guys there too - for no reason. (MySpace Site) Appearing 8/7-14

Pennywise (Hermosa Beach, CA) - A Classic punk name with a new singer, Pennywise will be coming on the tour with new frontman Zoli Teglas and quite possibly some newer material. (Official Site) Appearing 7/20-8/8

Polar Bear Club (Rochester/Syracuse, NY) – Formed by members of a range of hardcore and indie rock bands, this upstate band has been compared to scenemakers like Lifetime and Hot Water Music for very good reason. Jangly guitars and driving lyrics make them epic musicians and powerful performers. (MySpace Site) Appearing 6/24-7/18

Reel Big Fish (Huntington Beach, CA) – A band that’s been going strong since the early days of Third Wave ska, Reel Big Fish are one of the more entertaining bands touring right now, and not just due to their music. Their way they mix “more schtick than you can shake a stick at” into their live sets is always fun; their last Warped Performance in Detroit was plagued by technical issues, and the band still put on a performance while waiting for guitar repairs that kept the crowd entertained. (Official Site) Appearing 7/13-8/15
