How to Keep Ants Out of Cars
- 1). Clean out the car. Ants will infest in search of a food source, so denying them food will help dissuade them from taking residence inside the car.
- 2). Leave a mixture of equal parts peanut butter and borax for ants in the car. Ants will feed on the mixture, and the borax will kill them. If the ants are nesting, they will share the tainted peanut butter with the others in the colony, including the queen, wiping out the colony.
- 3). Fumigate the inside of the car with a bug bomb designed for ants. Make sure the car is tightly sealed. Check the windows and the doors for leaks. Make sure to strictly follow the instructions on the bug bomb. After fumigating the car, run the climate controls on high for at least a couple of days to clean out the vents. Make sure that the windows are open while you do this to prevent harm to yourself or passengers.
- 4). Spray the tires, doors, trunk or any other area of access with ant repellent. You can also spray a perimeter around the car's spot in the garage, though it won't protect your car in other parking lots.
