    • 1). Close and tape the bottom of the packing box and stand it upright. Cut two triangular windows on the top of two opposite top flaps. Each window should be approximately half the size of the flap. Cut a flap on one side of the box, large enough to serve as a door for children to climb in and play.

    • 2). Cut four additional triangular pieces of cardboard to make the nosecone. Each triangle should have sides equal to the length of one top flap. Fold the top flaps up and tape one side of each piece of the nosecone to each flap. Fold the triangles in and tape the sides together.

    • 3). Cut two triangular sidepieces for the rocket's side fins. Tape with duct tape to opposite sides of the rocket.

    • 4). Cut a smaller cardboard triangle for the fin on the top of the rocket. Lie the rocket down. Tape the fin to the top of the rocket.

    • 5). Tape three small buckets or planters to the rear of the rocket, upside down. Tape red and orange streamers to the inside of each rocket for the rocket's propulsion system.

    • 6). Paint and color your cardboard rocket. Use white or gray paint for the rocket body and black or other dark paint to add stripes and lettering, such as your family name or a slogan like "To the Moon or Bust." Alternatively, decorate with space themed stickers, if desired.
