Oregon Scientific Radio Controlled LED Instructions
- AA batteries power both the remote sensor and clock unit. The manufacturer recommends using alkaline, rather than rechargeable, batteries for most of the year and then switching to lithium batteries to power the remote sensor when the temperature drops below freezing. This is because alkaline batteries contain a significant amount of water and may freeze at temperatures of 10 degrees Fahrenheit and under. Most brands of lithium batteries are freeze resistant to 40 degrees below zero.
- Install the batteries in the remote sensor, taking care to observe polarity, then install batteries in the clock unit. Set the remote sensor and clock unit side by side on a table. Press the "Reset" button on the remote sensor and simultaneously press the "Channel" and "Mem" buttons on the clock unit. This will initiate communication between the two units. Leave both the units untouched for at least 15 minutes while they acquire the proper signals.
- For best results, place the remote sensor unit outside, where it has a clear view of the sky and lies within 100 feet of the indoor clock unit. Position the sensor so that it faces the indoor clock unit. Because below-freezing temperatures may negatively impact the performance of the clock, position the remote sensor closer to the indoor clock unit in the winter months.
- The "Mem" button displays the current as well as the maximum and minimum temperatures. The up and down arrow buttons increase or decrease units when setting the clock. The "Channel" button changes the remote sensor display. The "Mode" button scrolls through the various settings and displays. The "Alarm" button allows you to view the alarm status as well as set a new alarm. The "Zone" button allows you to choose different time zones for your clock and the "Reset" button resets the unit to factory settings.
- In the event that a data transmission to your clock unit is interrupted, you may have to set the time manually. Press and hold the "Mode" button for at least two seconds. Use the up and down arrow buttons to set the clock to the correct time, then press the "Mode" button to save your changes.
