    Suez Canal

    • One of the most famous man-made canals in the world, the fact that Port Said sits at the mouth of the Suez Canal makes it a natural stop for tourists who are cruising the canal. This is a great spot for watching the huge tankers that use the Suez Canal each day. Stick around at night to check out the restaurants and night spots that line the Suez and attract people from the entire Middle East.

    National Museum

    • Some of the most priceless artifacts in Egyptian history can be found in the Port Said National Museum on Palestine Street. Mummy cases, ancient textiles, manuscripts, icons and calligraphy can be found in the museum. Tourists should note that the museum is closed on Saturdays and is only open from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during Ramadan.

    Port Said Military Museum

    • Egypt's rich military heritage is on display at the Port Said Military Museum, which was established in 1964. The museum's main display regards battles between Port Said and the Egyptian army, which date back to ancient times. Military paintings and statues can also be found at this museum. The nice thing about this museum is that it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    Beach at Port Fouad

    • Situated on the Mediterranean Sea, all a beachcomber has to do is take a ferry across the Suez Canal to escape for the day. This shell-covered beach attracts tourists on a daily basis and is never closed.

    Shopping

    • Called Sharia Palestine locally, this is the place to shop and be seen in Port Said. The street is lined with duty-free items and becomes very lively at night. There are also areas to eat, hotels and other attractions for tourists and locals alike. If you don't like the crowds, hop on a bus and head for Al-Souq Al-Togary, which offers cheaper shopping for items like clothing and fabric.
