Bureau of Public Information
- In the course of its daily activities, UNESCO acquires information useful to a large cross-section of global public-interest endeavors. Thus, one of their missions is to share the knowledge they collect through distribution by the Bureau of Public Information (BPI) (see References 2).
- Among its other responsibilities, the BPI develops and coordinates its web site, publishes an on line periodical and organizes cultural events. It is also responsible for distributing information about how to use the UNESCO name and logo and is the " ... focal point for the different Prizes awarded by the Organization to personalities and entities that have carried out praiseworthy acts in their fields of activity" (see References 2).
- Although the Bureau of Public Information distributes a number of publications and other types of communications through TV and radio to increase public awareness, the Internet has become their main vehicle of information distribution.
