How to Remove Primer Paint From Carpet
- 1). Blot up primer paint that is still wet with a folded paper towel. Resist the temptation to scrub or rub the spot.
- 2). Test ammonia, Folex or Spot Shot carpet cleaners on an inconspicuous area of your carpet. Be sure it doesn't change the color of the carpet before you proceed.
- 3). Spray one of the carpet stain removers on the primer spot without saturating the carpet. Apply ammonia with an old rag if your stain is from shellac-based primer. It's important not to soak the product into the carpet backing. Wait a minute before proceeding if the stain has already dried.
- 4). Blot out the stain with a clean wash cloth. Work the stain with either your fingers or a spoon to make it easier to remove. If some stain remains, spray, blot and repeat the process.
- 5). Rinse the area with cool water when the stain is gone. Use an old wet wash cloth to move, not rub, in all directions.
