    Scope

    • A meat inspection program helps ensure meat products produced in the state for sale adhere to state standards of safety, purity and wholesomeness. Further, according to safety standards, food processed in a home kitchen such as jams and jellies cannot be sold to the public.

      Regarding vehicle emissions inspections, at least nine facilities throughout Wisconsin perform such inspections.

    Goals

    • The Department of Health Services cites reducing death and illness among Wisconsin residents among its goals, along with promoting public health through education about food-borne illnesses.

      The vehicle inspection program aims for a 24 percent reduction of hydrocarbons in the Milwaukee area as of August 2010.
