Founded in 1750, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, is one of the oldest cities on the east coast of Canada. Known as the "city of lakes," Dartmouth offers visitors much in the way of history and beauty. With the nightlife of a major city and its accessibility to Halifax, Dartmouth is a tourist destination. There is also a variety of dining options to choose from in this waterfront city. - MacAskill's is a waterfront seafood restaurant that offers views of Halifax Harbor. It has an extensive menu that offers such seafood entrees as Nova Scotia lobster, poached salmon and pan-fried haddock. MacAskill's also serves non-seafood items such as filet mignon, rack of lamb and chicken Wellington. The restaurant has a selection of starter items, as well as salads and a soup of the day. MacAskill's is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, and on Sundays during the summer months. It has a full bar that serves beer, wine and cocktails. Reservations are recommended Thursday through Sunday.

Opened in 2003, the Dartmouth location offers a variety of regional Chinese dishes. Drawing on different culinary traditions from around China, the menu at May Garden contains everything from Szechuan beef to Cantonese chow mein. Appetizers at May Garden run the gambit from veggie egg rolls to honey garlic chicken wings. The menu has a variety of beef, chicken, seafood and vegetarian Chinese entrees. It also has a section devoted to items for children as well as one featuring American/Canadian dishes, such as burgers and fries, chicken balls and fish and chips. May Garden has a full bar that serves beer, wine and cocktails. It opens at 11:30 a.m. daily and is open till 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday, till 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and till midnight on Sunday.

The menu at La Perla has a selection of northern Italian pasta, seafood, beef and chicken entrees.
