"When car prices are high, there will surely be illegal transactions out there, especially when car owners falter on their car installments, and they may resort to all these illegal car renting activities," says Joseph Poh, honorary secretary of the Singapore Vehicle Rental Association.

He further said, "It is tedious for every private vehicle rental transaction, you probably need to buy insurance and you may buy on a long term but the hire out is not guaranteed, so a lot of people may not want to be bothered or troubled with doing that."
