Know The Office Climate There are times in the work cycle of every enterprise, where the work load is heavier than the rest of the year.
If you have major accounts coming in and are anticipating a lot of strict deadlines, it is not wise to expect permission for a long vacation - unless of course, you run the company.
Understanding the office climate and knowing about the time of the year where you can expect lean work pressure can help you get more vacation time.
2.
Deserve A Vacation If you have been sloppy in your work, have been showing up late and have been irregular, your manager will most likely scoff at the idea of giving you a vacation.
It is therefore important to perform well in order to deserve a vacation.
If you have been keeping your end of the bargain, your manager will be more than happy to let you off for an extended vacation.
3.
Be Willing To Make Some Sacrifices If you desperately need vacation, you have to be willing to make a few sacrifices.
This may mean that you have to give up the cushy promotion that you had set your eyes on or a raise that you so deserve.
There are chances that you may not have to give up anything at all, but be prepared for the worst.
4.
Know Why You Deserve A Vacation We all deserve a vacation, but some of us deserve it more than others.
You should be able to explain to your manager why you should be given an extended vacation.
Dwell on your achievements and the amount of hard work you have put in and elucidate what a great asset you are for the company.
