Traditional Window Treatments - Selecting Rods That Are Suitable
Cafe rods
Caf rods are commonly capped with tiny metal finials on their ends. They are round, metal tubes that are mounted with U-shaped brackets. They are suitable for caf curtains as well as any curtain that holds on directly to the rod. Caf clips or curtain rings can also be used on caf rods.
Flat rods
Flat rods are lightweight rods that come in a flat shape. Treatments with rod sleeves like valances need these kinds of rods. They are available in many widths: 1 inch, 2inches and 4inches.
Wide flat rods are similar with flat rods. They come in the widths of 2and 4inches and they are splendid in creating dramatic effects, providing an area beneath for making another kind of drapery. Usually, wide flat rods are made of clear plastic or metal. When you are using a sheer fabric for your window treatments, the clear plastic is convenient to use.
Sash rods
As the name implies, it can be fastened to the window's sash with the small brackets to keep them in place. Casement curtain projects as well as French doors treatments go well with these rods.
Tension rods
Tension rods are created on the inside with spring mechanisms and small rubber tips on their ends. They are best to mount inside your window because they are very flexible and can be adjusted easily. This type of rod doesn't need brackets. They match well with your lovely wooden frames. If you have a unique-shape window like the Palladian window style that doesn't need a covering on the frames, you have to go with tension rods. They are great for lightweight fabrics because they have that special spring mechanism and brackets are no longer needed to maintain them in proper place.
