On the plains of many authors is the quaint town of Romney Marsh.
It shares counties with Kent and East Sussex.
The wetland area of Romney Marsh is a beautiful backdrop for the literary profession and the gateway to England with its many waterways.
The flat and low lying town has areas of it that are still below sea level.
It has been built up over time as settlers adorned the beauty of the area yet looking for a way to earn a living while establishing residency.
Many people and councils have been attempting to forge and fill waterways while maintaining the natural beauty of the lands in the town.
One controversy in the town is the building of the Little Cheyne Court Wind Farm.
It is an efficient planning to successfully gain natural power through harvesting wind energy.
It has been given many dollars to successful implement but there are those who are still fighting its creation.
This is because they feel the natural visual beauty of the area will be compromised and transformed.
A large portion of the economy is the population of the Romney Marsh sheep.
This is a vital asset to the community and the town has gained a name because of them.
Their hearty way of being able to be grown in wet areas, with the ability to withstand health issues, is what makes them popular.
The town breeds and exports sheep all over the world and most are sent to Australia.
Military training is also indicative to the area with two large naval training facilities.
It was said than in World War II there was a plan to flood the marsh and light it on fire to protect England from German invaders.
Fortunately this did not happen.
Many lovely bed and breakfast facilities are available in Romney Marsh.
It is a popular holiday spot to relax, write or take a cycle ride through the towns as it is the best way to see the area with its narrow winding roads.
This is due to the fact that grazing lands are considered more important than roads.
