How to Repel Dogs From a Backyard

104 1
    • 1). Sprinkle ground-up lemon or grapefruit rind and juice in and around gardens or areas that dogs are attracted to. The citric acid in these fruits helps repel dogs.

    • 2). Spread naturally sharp plants such as raspberry canes, rose thorns and pine cones around areas dogs invade. These sharp plants deter dogs from entering with their vulnerable paws.

    • 3). Plant pot marigold, or calendula, in your garden. Dogs avoid this plant.

    • 4). Use commercial dog repellents sold at lawn and garden stores. Follow the instructions on the package. Repellents come in spray and powder form.

    • 5). Set up motion-activated sprinklers in your backyard. When a dog enters your yard, the sprinklers will startle it and scare it away.
