Facts

• Fungal sinus infections develop in two ways. Some people who live in highly humid conditions can breathe in harmful fungus that irritates the sinus cavity, leading it to overproduce mucus and causing infection. The other way an individual develops a fungal sinus infection is by an overgrowth of fungus in the body, very similar to a yeast infection or athlete's foot. The fungus spreads rapidly through the body from the intestines to the chest and eventually makes its way to the sinus cavity.
  
  

Homeopathic Basics

• Homeopathic remedies use herbs and plants at very low doses that help trigger the body's natural response to ward off the symptom. The basic philosophy of homeopathics is "like cures like." If a particular plant causes a person to have a reaction where the sinus cavity becomes inflamed, irritated and overproduces mucus, this plant will be given in an extremely small quantity to trigger the body to react to it and cure the sinus issues.
  
  

Remedies

• There are countless possible homeopathic remedies for a fungal sinus infection but the most commonly used are: Calcarea carbonica, Nux vomica and Nitricum acidum. Calcera carbonica should be taken if the fungal sinus infection is causing a fever. Nux vomica should be taken if the fungal sinus infection is causing nausea due to post-nasal drip. Nitricum acidum should be taken if the fungal sinus infection has completely blocked the nasal airways and is causing head pain.
  
  

Dose

• Each homeopathic remedy should come at a minimum of 30 times dilutes but can be as much as 60 times diluted. Homeopathic remedies come in small ball-like dissolvable pills. Take the recommended dose four to six times in a day. Place the tablets under the tongue and allow them to dissolve. Do not crush or chew them for the best result. Do not drink or eat 15 minutes before or after taking the remedy.

• If the symptoms persist or worsen for more than seven days, seek out a doctor's opinion. Homeopathic remedies are drug-free and can be used in conjunction with drugs. Homeopathic remedies have not been shown to have known side effects and are safe for use with children. Homeopathic remedies should be discussed with a doctor and used under her supervision.
