How to Remove Stains From Vinyl Siding
- 1). Spray the entire surface of the vinyl siding with a hose to get it good and wet. It may be helpful to work in sections so that one area doesn't dry while you are working on another. Vinyl siding does not contain pores for dirt to soak into like painted surfaces and aluminum siding, so with a full wash once or twice a week future stains can be prevented.
- 2). Mix together a bleach and water in a bucket or pump up sprayer. You will want to use 3 parts water to every 1 part of bleach. If you have any plants around the vinyl siding, you may wish to cover them up with plastic or cloths. This simple mixture will work to eat away at the stains and grime, and will work naturally with the sun to brighten and clean your vinyl siding surface.
- 3). Use a long handled scrub brush or pump up sprayer to apply the bleach solution to the siding. Allow the bleach mixture to sit on the vinyl siding surface for a short amount of time to sink in and get to work, but do not allow it to dry on the surface.
- 4). Scrub the stain with the long handled scrub brush or a pressure washer if you have one. A pressure washer will definitely make the work go faster, but you do not have to have one in order to remove the stains from your vinyl siding. If you're using a pressure washer, a medium setting should work fine and a high setting is not necessarily needed. If you're using a long handled scrub brush, apply an ample amount of elbow grease to help get rid of the more persistent stains.
- 5). Rinse the entire surface of the vinyl siding off completely, once all the stains have been scrubbed and removed. Remember to perform a weekly spray off of the vinyl siding to avoid more work in the future, and to stop hard to get rid of stains before they start.
