How to Install a CPU Power Supply

    • 1). Unplug your computer from its electric source. Turn your computer on its side and remove the side panel. Some side panels are secured with screws, while others can just slide in and out of place. If you removed screws, place them in an envelope marked "Side Panel."

    • 2). Remove the new power supply unit from its packing, Make sure it is intact and nothing seems dented or damaged.

    • 3). Remove the old power supply unit by unplugging it from the motherboard socket and the driver sockets leading back to the old power supply unit.

    • 4). Hold the old power supply unit with one hand and the screwdriver in you other hand. Brace the power supply with one hand and remove the four screws holding it in place with the other. Place the screws in an envelope marked "Power Supply Unit."

    • 5). Attach the cables of the new power supply to the motherboard in the same manner you disconnected the old power supply.

    • 6). Remove the four screws from the envelope marked "Power Supply Unit" and secure the new power supply unit in place.

    • 7). Reattach and secure the side panel.

    • 8). Plug in your computer. Turn it on. If it does not respond immediately, check the connections and make sure all the sockets are pushed in tightly.
