Biofeedback is a kind of training given to body to get feedback is known as biofeedback. It is a computerized brain training method to get more control over brainwave activity to treat the disorders like ADD/ADHD, depress or anxiety etc. This treatment is prone to produce the normal EEG pattern without the help of medication. This is the proven technique and medical world also have considered this technique more significantly to treat the disorders like digestion, hypertension, chronic pain etc.
The device used in biofeedback is known as electromyography (EMG). Based on this apparatus, the technique is known as EMG biofeedback. The sensors are attached with the body parts that are more sensible towards the tense condition like forehead muscle or frontalis. Whenever the stress or tension increases on brain it reflects in the form of fluctuations in electrical signals that can be recorded on measuring unit. The biofeedback equipment gives the positive feedback to body by releasing the stress and relaxation to muscles in conscious manner. This way one can control over the brain activity and can self train the brain for various situations.
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is the technique to improve the brain with self regulation by making clear distinction between brain and mind. During this feedback process the computerized system train the brain well for better control of thoughts and feelings. By keeping the human relaxed still focused. In neurofeedback, sensors are stacked on the scalp and computer system reflects the status of brain in form of audio-visual signals on the screen so that brain can sense what it is feeling and respond. Thus this is a technique to identify our brain activity that is not possible by human in normal condition. Thus neurofeedback is like an electronic mirror through which you can see and feel the action of your brain and this can give you better training to train and control your brain thoughts, feelings and can concentrate to balance the thinking process.
Biofeedback and neurofeedback, the activity is same to help person in chronic tension situation but in a different way. Through biofeedback, one can train pelvic muscles and can overcome the incontinence, whereas in case of bedwetting, it is the brain issue that can be tackled with neurofeedback that is also known as EEG biofeedback.
