How to Make a Grilling Storage Cabinet
- 1). Assess your need for storage space. Take inventory of your grilling equipment and accessories. Take the physical dimensions, including length and width of the items you need to store, and add them up to determine how much cabinet floor space you will require. Consider any foreseeable accessory purchases in your approximations. Divide the required floor space needed by the number of shelves you want your cabinet to have.
- 2). Draw up a design using the dimensions you've already determined. The top and bottom should be identical to the shelves. The sides can be figured out by taking the thickness of the shelf boards and the space between shelves. The back and front should be as wide as the shelves plus the thickness of the two sides.
- 3). Purchase the wood for construction from a lumberyard or home-improvement store. Construction wood should be durable and of a thickness you are comfortable working with. Measure the wood according to your needed dimensions. Use a pencil to mark the place for a cut, and measure a second time to be sure.
- 4). Use a saw to cut the pieces of your cabinet. Lay the pieces out for assembly. Using the wood screws, secure the two sides to the bottom, making sure all parts are properly aligned. Next add the top and then the back, securing with wood screws to adjacent pieces. Install the shelves at predetermined intervals in the interior, using two wood screws on each side.
- 5). Take the front piece and cut it into two doors. Attach the doors to either side using hinges, one near the top and one near the bottom of each door. File down rough edges on the cabinet, using first the file and then sand paper.
