Care of Tropical Paradise Hibiscus

104 1
    • 1). Position or plant Tropical Paradise hibiscus for exposure to direct sunlight for six to eight hours each day. Note that, while tropical hibiscus can survive in locations that receive less sunlight, they will not produce as many of their characteristic blooms.

    • 2). Water tropical hibiscus deeply and thoroughly to promote healthy development and abundant blooming. Provide your Tropical Paradise hibiscus with approximately 1 inch of supplemental irrigation every week when rain fails to provide equivalent moisture. Allow the surface of the soil to dry slightly before watering again to avoid over-watering.

    • 3). Provide tropical paradise hibiscus with monthly applications of a high-phosphorous fertilizer, or a product specially formulated for tropical hibiscus. Use the application instructions on the fertilizer packaging to ensure your hibiscus receives the appropriate concentration of nutrients.

    • 4). Encourage your tropical hibiscus to rebloom by removing the blooms that fade. Cut the old hibiscus stems back to the ground in the winter if you live in a cold climate; healthy new shoots will emerge in the spring.
