How to Get a Visa to Work in Indonesia

    • 1). Apply for and obtain a position in Indonesia.

    • 2). Have your Indonesian employer obtain a copy of Notification of Authorization from Indonesian immigration officials.

    • 3). Have your employer issue you a letter of invitation detailing the purpose of your stay in the country.

    • 4). Download an Application for Standard Visitation/Transit Visa from the Indonesian Embassy homepage.

    • 5). Print two copies of the form and then complete the application by hand, making sure you sign both forms.

    • 6). Have two color passport-size photographs taken of you.

    • 7). Get a confirmed flight itinerary from a travel agent. Print the flight itinerary.

    • 8). Make a photocopy of your green card or visa if you are not a U.S. citizen.

    • 9). Pay the processing fee by getting a money order from the U.S. Postal Service payable to “Embassy of Indonesia.” You can also use a company check or pay in cash. As of July 2010, the visa fee was $100 for stays of up to one year.

      Mail your application materials, including your passport, which must have a minimum validity of six months, to the Indonesian consular office that has jurisdiction over your state of residence. You must include a self-stamped return envelope with your application.
