Going into a camping trip without the right planning can be an absolute disaster.
In this article I hope to highlight five areas that are an absolute must if you want to have a safe and enjoyable camping trip.
Have you checked the weather? The weather you will experience on this trip is a vital feature which you must know in order to plan successfully.
You will need to see whether the weather will allow you to camp in the area that you wish to camp.
Some rivers may cause some camping areas to flood if too much rain has fallen.
In addition the weather in this trip will determine the equipment that you are going to need.
You can check the weather by listening to the local radio, news or even checking it online.
What clothing? Once you know what weather you will be experiencing you can start to take decisions on the items of clothing that you will need.
It is always best to have the right type of clothing to ensure that you make your trip as comfortable as it can be.
If it is warm you will need clothing to keep you cool, in addition you will need clothing that will keep you warm at night.
If it is going to be raining you will need spare sets of clothing to ensure you always have dry clothes to change into.
Always take as many clothes as you have space for since they may be needed.
What will you be doing? Will you be staying at one location or are you intending to backpack around an area? This has to be decided before you set off.
This way you will know how much gear you can actually carry.
Remember that if you are backpacking around an area you will need to carry everything you take with you, unless you have a vehicle to support you along the journey so this is an essential part of your planning.
Have you checked your equipment? There is nothing worse than arriving at your camp site to find out that you are missing pieces from your tent, or even worse the tent is damaged.
During your trip your tent will shelter you from the elements and it is vital that it is in good condition.
It is always worth while to unpack the tent and set it up at home prior to heading off on your trip.
This will ensure that you have enough time to fix any problems that may arise.
Have you got all the equipment you need? Before leaving it is essential that you check that you have packed everything.
You need to make sure that you have your tent and all its accessories.
Have you packed those camping lights that you will need at night? Do you have the camping stove packed and ready for use? Is your sleeping bag and mat where it should be? Checking your camping supplies are packed and ready for use will make your trip so much more enjoyable.
So if you are heading off on a camping expedition make sure that you have checked the weather, your clothing, the location, your equipment and double check your packing! If you can do this you will ensure your camping trip will be a success.
