How to Remove Carpet Tape Adhesive From Carpet

    • 1). Scrape off the big chunks of adhesive with a small scraper.

    • 2). Apply dry cleaning solvent or mineral spirits to a clean cloth. Take your time and work the solution into the tape residue and carpet with a sponging action.

    • 3). Blot excess solution from carpet with a clean cloth, once the tape residue is removed. Use firm, even pressure to remove as much solution as possible.

    • 4). Rinse carpet by blotting with a clean, wet cloth. Lay the folded cloth over the area where you just removed the stain. Apply pressure to the wet cloth, wetting the carpeting.

    • 5). Dry carpeting. With a dry cloth, blot wet spot by applying firm pressure, until excess water is removed.
