How to Hang Christmas Tree Garland

104 1
    • 1). Select a garland that matches the ornaments and theme of your tree. If you plan to hang many blue and silver ornaments, for example, then you'll want to hang a garland that matches them.

    • 2). String the Christmas lights onto the tree first. This ensures that the garland doesn't get in your way when you string the lights onto the tree.

    • 3). Wrap the garland at the bottom of the Christmas tree. You'll need 9 feet of garland per foot of the tree's height, according to the National Gardening Association. This equates to 54 feet of garland for a 6-foot Christmas tree. Place the garland on the bottom branches of the tree, but avoid covering or hiding the Christmas lights with the garland.

    • 4). Place the garland on the top of one of the branches. Bring the garland under the next branch, then over the top of the following branch.

    • 5). Space the garland swag evenly and secure the section to the branches with wire or ribbon to keep it from slipping off the branches. Avoid letting the garland swag touch the section below.

    • 6). Wrap the garland around the tree and continue to work your way to the top. Once the garland strand ends, grab another piece and begin wrapping where you left off.
