    Checking the Transmission Fluid

    • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature -- about halfway up the temperature gauge. Shut the engine down, pull the transmission fluid dipstick out and wipe it off with a cloth. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again. Ensure the fluid level is within the crosshatched area on the bottom of the stick.

    Filling the Fluid

    • Pull the transmission dipstick out. Insert a funnel into the hole the transmission dipstick goes into. Pour Dexron II transmission fluid through the funnel. Periodically check the fluid until it reaches the correct level.
