How to Reboot an IBM T42 Laptop
- 1). Click the "Start" button on the desktop, followed by "Shut Down." Here you can select to "Shut Down," "Restart" or "Cancel." Clicking "Shut Down" powers down the operating system and the computer. Press the power button to reboot the computer.
- 2). Hold down the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" buttons at the same time. This brings up a small control menu. Select a program to close out if it is causing your IBM T42 to not function properly. If problems continue to hamper your computer, continue to press the three-button combination for the computer to eventually shut down. Press the power button and the computer reboots.
- 3). Press and hold down the power button if you are in the middle of a program and it freezes and the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" combination isn't responding properly. After a few moments the computer shuts down. Let it sit for another few seconds, then press the power button to reboot the computer.
