How Does a Solar Panel Alternative Energy System Work? The photovoltaic cells in the panels absorb energy when sunlight hits on them.
This energy forces electrons at the silicon walls to detach themselves and they are then charged.
The result is an electric current flowing in one direction that can be used to power the building.
