How to Hang a Mirror on Drywall

    • 1). If hanging hardware is not already present, install two heavy-duty D-rings on the back of the mirror, positioned far enough from the top to allow for a slight arch in the hanging wire. Pull heavy-gauge mirror wire through one D-ring, twisting and knotting it to prevent unraveling. Thread the wire through the second D-ring, pulling it taut and securing in the same way.

    • 2). Mark the center point of the top edge of the mirror lightly with a pencil on the wall. Starting from this point, measure one quarter the width of the mirror in each direction, and mark with a vertical line. Use a level to determine where along the vertical lines to place the screws for hanging, marking with a pencil.

    • 3). Use a drill to make two pilot holes for drywall anchors. Install the anchors, leaving approximately 1/4-inch of screw exposed for hanging the wire.

    • 4). Hang the mirror by wire. Adjust as needed to make it hang level.
