If you pinpoint the particular causes then you are in a better position to clear it up.

They can rule out any allergies or other conditions which could be the main culprit of your acne condition.
Depending on the severity of your acne, your doctor can also recommend treatments specific to the type of acne you have.

Another important point is to test different acne culprits one at a time.
If you change your cleansing regime and change your diet at the same time you won't be able to pinpoint what change caused the improvement in your acne.
