What Types of Face Lifts Are Appropriate For You?
No one comes to this decision easily because cosmetic surgery is not covered my medical insurance, so it can be an expensive undertaking.
There are many different types of face lifts and some may be more appropriate for you than others, depending upon your age and the results that you are hoping to achieve.
Below are some of the most common face lifts: S-Lift - this face lift will tighten up the skin along the jaw line.
It is achieved by making an incision that is in the shape of the letter "s.
" Temporal face lift - This lift will address drooping eyebrows by making an incision and lifting the skin on the side of the eyebrow.
It is not as invasive as a full brow lift.
Brow Lift - This is also called a forehead lift.
Small incisions are made in the hairline.
Excess skin is removed and the results will eliminate "worry" lines that people get in their foreheads and raised brows.
Neck Lift - This lift is often done in conjunction with a face lift, but it can be done as a stand alone procedure.
Incisions are made around or behind the ears and beneath the neck.
The surgeon will remove excess fat and tissue from under the neck and then trim the excess skin to give a tighter jaw line.
Eye Lift - This lift will remove extra fat deposits above and below the eyelid, which people refer to as bags under their eyes.
Cutaneous face lift - This lift will smooth out wrinkles in the lower portion of the face and neck.
It involves cutting along the hairline to separate the skin from the tissues below the skin.
The surgeon will stretch the skin, trim it and close the incision.
Because the muscles and tissues below the skin are not cut, this lift will stretch out eventually so it does not last a long time.
Botox - This is not a surgical face lift, but many patients choose to get Botox injections in the muscles that cause wrinkles and lines in the face.
It is non-invasive and less expensive than a surgical face lift, however you must continue with treatments to keep your wrinkles away.
These are just a listing of some of the most common types of face lifts available.
Consult with a plastic surgeon to see which procedure will best give you the results that you want to achieve.
