How to Locate I386 Files

    • 1). Click "Start," and click "My Computer." Double-click "Local Disk C." Click "Tools," and click "Folder Options." This opens a dialog window on your screen.

    • 2). Click the "View" tab. Click "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" in the "Advanced settings" section. Click "Apply," and click "OK" to save this setting and close the dialog window.

    • 3). Double-click the "i386" folder. You may not have an i386 folder in this location. If you do not see an i386 folder, you will need to use your Windows XP installation disk.

    • 4). Insert your Windows XP CD into your CD\DVD drive. Click "Cancel" on the "Welcome to Windows" screen. Click "Start," and click "My Computer." Right-click your CD\DVD drive icon and click "Explorer." This opens a new window that displays the contents of the Windows disk. Double-click the "i386" folder.
