- 1). Plug your flash drive into the USB port on your computer. The USB port is a small, thin, rectangle-shaped port that may be in the front or the back of the unit.
- 2). Right-click the Windows "Start" button or symbol, click "Explore" and navigate the folder tree to where your flash drive is. (It may be on the "E" drive, for example.) Click the flash drive's name on the left side of the screen. The right-side of the screen will adjust; if you already have pictures or folders on the flash drive, their names will appear on the right side of the screen. The very top of the window should say "USB Disk" or the name of your flash drive.
- 3). Right-click the white space on the right side of the window. Select "New" and choose "Folder." A new folder icon will appear on the right side of the screen. Type a name for it, such as "Cruise 2010." Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard, and the folder will be ready. Double-click the folder. The right side of the screen will remain blank because you haven't put anything in it yet. The very top of the window will now show the name of the folder.
- 4). Right-click the Windows "Start" button or symbol and click "Explore." This will open an additional navigation window on your screen. Resize the windows so you can see them both. If you have dual monitors, place one window on one monitor and one on the other.
- 5). Scroll the navigation bar on the new window to navigate to the folder or location on your computer, such as your desktop, where you have pictures saved. Double-click the folder they're in so the pictures are all listed on the right side of the window.
- 6). Pull down the "Views" icon, which looks like a little calendar, and select "List." Press and hold the "Ctrl" button and then click once on each picture that you want to move to the flash drive. Right-click the highlighted images and select "Copy."
- 7). Click back to the flash drive folder (the one you renamed to something such as "Cruise 2010"). Right-click in the white space of the folder and select "Paste." Depending on the number of images, it may take a few moments as the images paste into the folder. Once the computer has finished pasting the images into your flash drive folder, you may add more pictures from other locations or folders on your computer.
- 8). Close the flash drive window. Right-click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on taskbar at the bottom of your screen. Follow the removal directions, which may vary depending on the computer version you have. For example, you may have to click the "Stop" button, select your drive, click "OK" and wait for Windows to notify you that it is safe to remove the flash drive. When you see a notification, remove your flash drive from the computer.
