Does Adhd Go Away? - Looking At Ways To Treat Adhd Safely And Easily

101 76
Does ADHD go away, many parents ask hopefully. The answer, I am afraid, is that it does not. The good news is that if a child is treated properly at a young age, he can easily come to terms with it and cope with life more than successfully. All we have to do is look at some of the famous people who have ADHD from Michael Phelps to Ty Pennington and going further back to Albert Einstein, no less.

The bad news is that if ADHD is not spotted and treated, the results can spell failure for the unfortunate person who never got a chance of proper treatment. Even though multi tasking is sometimes favored in corporate culture, at the end of the day, if results in the ever competitive workplace are not forthcoming, a career disaster looms for the adult with ADHD. There is not much sympathy either! The question, does ADHD go away seems like wishful thinking.

Teenagers and young adults who never get any treatment for ADHD have a greater possibility of getting into trouble with the law, drug addiction, alcoholism and unwanted pregnancies.

The cost of untreated ADHD are enormous and many wish that the question, does ADHD go away could be answered by saying that it is a phase and an ADHD child will grow out of it.

The good news is that an ADHD child can be helped enormously by behavior modification and that view has been very ably supported by the ADHD experts such as Dr. Amen and Dr. William Pelham. The latter has actually cast severe doubts about the efficacy of ADHD drugs in the long term. He has done a lot of research on this and his centre for ADHD children at the University of Buffalo is at the forefront in successfully treating this condition.

There are now reports coming in from research projects which show that in the long term, the effects of ADHD drugs such as Ritalin, Concerta and Vyvanse may not be nearly as effective in the long term as in the short term. The effects of these drugs seems to lessen which only highlights the importance of using behavior modification alongside medication which has fewer side effects.

This is also why many parents are now turning hopefully to ADHD homeopathic remedies. They know for a fact that there are no side effects and they know that they are equally effective in actually alleviating the troublesome ADHD symptoms. While the answer to the question, does ADHD go away, is still a negative one, there is now much more optimism in giving ADHD children the tools to cope with this condition successfully.
