How to Do Blacked-Out Eye Makeup

104 1
    • 1). Apply an eye shadow base all over the eyes extending to the lids. Let it dry about one minute before applying eye shadow. This helps to make the shadow stick to the lids and last longer without creasing throughout the day and night.

    • 2). Dip an eye shadow brush into black eye shadow or pigment, and tap it lightly to remove any excess product. Sweep the brush across each lid in a horizontal motion, from the inner to outer corner.

    • 3). Dip the shadow again, and apply it in the same manner to the crease. Blend lightly upwards toward the brows. Keep sweeping the brush until the shadow is completely blended. The top of the shadow should look like it's fading and not a harsh line.

    • 4). Dip a rubber applicator sponge into water, and dab it all over lids to make the black look wet and shiny, if desired.

    • 5). Dip the brush once again in black shadow, and apply it to the bottom portion of the eyes along the lower lash line. You can go a bit below the lash line for a more dramatic look. Extend to the outer corners.

    • 6). Apply black eyeliner to both the upper lids along the lashes and the bottom lash lines. The bottom can be a bit heavier than the top. To draw the upper line, use small connected dashes, starting in the middle and extending outward. Draw more small dashes from the inner corner to connect to the middle.

    • 7). Apply two or three coats of black mascara. Start at the root of the lash line, and hold the wand sideways, moving upward toward the end of the lashes. Gently shake the wand horizontally to coax lashes apart and lengthen them. Allow one to two minutes to pass before applying each coat, or your lashes will be clumpy and sticky.
