How to Refinish Self-Storage Metal Doors

    • 1). Use a coarse plastic brush to wash the self-storage door with a heavy-duty cleanser. Rinse the metal door, using a water hose. Allow the metal door to dry for three hours.

    • 4). Coat the self-storage door with galvanized metal etching primer, using a roller. Roll vertically.

    • 5). Use a polyester brush to encourage a slick finish. Brush vertically, smoothing the wet primer. Apply gentle pressure. Raise the door a few inches, and place a brick beneath it. Lower the door. Allow the metal door to dry for three hours.

    • 6). Wash each painting tool with water.

    • 7). Coat the self-storage door with acrylic enamel, using a roller. Roll vertically.

    • 8). Use the polyester brush to encourage a slick finish. Brush vertically, smoothing the wet enamel. Apply gentle pressure. Allow the metal door to dry for three hours. Raise the door a few inches, and place a brick beneath it. Lower the door. Allow the metal door to dry for three hours.
