How to Kick-Start a 1975 Honda 400/4 Motorcycle
- 1). Mount the 400/4 and raise the kickstand. If the engine is cold, engage the choke lever.
- 2). Turn the ignition key to "On."
- 3). Engage the clutch lever on the handlebar and shift the transmission into neutral. Release the clutch lever.
- 4). Reach down and flip out the kick-start lever on the right side of the engine.
- 5). Engage the front brake by applying pressure to the brake lever on the right handlebar.
- 6). Keep your left foot on the ground and allow the 400/4 to lean just a little bit to the left. Raise your right foot up and place it on the kick-start lever. Kick your right foot down, pushing the kick-start lever through its travel. Your foot will travel below the right foot peg. It may take several kicks to get it started.
