How to Keep Paint From Bleeding
- 1). Apply painter's tape wherever you are not painting, such as around doorways or window frames and along ceilings and floorboards.
- 2). Smooth down the painter's tape with your hands to make sure it's firmly in place. This helps prevent bleeding under the tape. Note any areas where the surface seems uneven.
- 3). Apply paint along the edge of the tape, using a small paintbrush. Be especially careful along the edges where you noted the surface is uneven. Using a paintbrush, rather than a roller, helps prevent bleeding.
- 4). Smooth away any areas where there are globs of paint, using the paintbrush. You never want to remove the tape while there are globs. The paint will likely bleed.
- 5). Pull up the painter's tape using one long motion. Peel slowly and carefully to keep the paint from bleeding.
