This means you need to have a system that is user-friendly if you want your family members to be able to activate it and disable it.
If your family members are constantly triggering false alarms because they don't know how to operate your system, they are going to stop using it.

The most basic features you need to have on your alarm system include door sensors, a loud siren and 24 hour monitoring services.
All of your sensors will be linked to a main control panel, which will then be linked through your telephone line to the monitoring company.
If one of your door sensors detects that a door is being opened while the alarm is armed, it will send a signal to the control panel to sound the siren.
At the same time, the monitoring company will be notified that the alarm has been triggered.
What happens at this point will depend on your alarm company.
Some companies notify the authorities immediately upon receiving the alert.
However, other companies attempt to contact the homeowner before notifying the police department.
This latter procedure cuts down on the number of false alarms the police respond to.
This is probably the better process in terms of not having as many false alarms, but really, the final decision is up to you.
