Chocolate has to be one of the most delicious feel good foods that you can eat. Not only does it look and smell delicious the taste can be absolutely divine. Recent studies into the health benefits of chocolate revealed that dark chocolate is even good for us. However, for many this is an excuse to overindulge their chocolate cravings. The cocoa in chocolate can accentuate positive feelings and people who are either under stress or feeling down reach for the chocolate to comfort them. This soon becomes a problem as their chocolate cravings increase and they become more dependent on it.

If you have strong cravings for chocolate there are a few tips that can help you curb them. A good way is remove the temptation from your line of sight. This means collect any chocolate stored or lying around the house and either give it away or trash it. Replace it with healthier alternatives like fruit and nuts.

If you cannot bear having no chocolate buy low fat and low sugar options. There are many of these products on the market such as chocolate coated granola bars and low fat chocolate yoghurt. This will help curb you chocolate cravings and at the same time you can still enjoy what you crave without the increased weight.

Many chocolate cravings are the result of us being bored. We do not fill up our time with useful and challenging activities as we would rather sit around thinking about eating chocolate. The best way to avoid this is to get more involved with social activates and exercise. You can do this by joining a social club or gym as this will give you the reason not to sit around and get bored. Keeping active has a double benefit as it not only curbs your chocolate cravings it will also help you lose weight and keep you mentally and physically healthy.

If the thought of your home being completely devoid of chocolate then, you can reach a compromise. Instead of storing your chocolate where you can easily access it put it in a place where it will be difficult to reach. For example, store the chocolate in a locked drawer and place the key on a top shelf that is out of reach or place it outside in a safe location in the garden. When you feel your chocolate craving coming on you will realise that in order to satisfy it you will have to either go outside or climb up a ladder to get the key to unlock the drawer. Using tricks that put obstacles in the way will help you curb your cravings.
