Reasons to Learn How to Meditate

One of the most amazing things about meditation is that you will feel better after 20 minutes successful meditation than after 10 hours of sleep, of course its not intended to replace sleep, but will leave you more relaxed, more rested, and more alert.
As you read through the list of benefits that meditation brings the claims may seem almost miraculous.
This is not the case.
The transformation is not overwhelming the process is slow, subtle,and cumulative, and long lasting.
Think of it like you have just joined the gym.
You know exercise is good for you, but you also know that 20 minutes exercise a month just wont cut it,to feel the full benefits you must exercise regularly, so you do it regularly.
After the first week you feel like you are getting somewhere, you feel relaxed,you are eating good food,you sleep like a baby, and as you continue you get more and more fit.
After a month or so you start thinking you are at your physical best (of course there is still a long way to go), but the day to day improvements are less noticeable from when you started.
The novelty begins to wear of.
This is the period when you need to show most determination.
This is were you go on to become fit or you go back to being a couch potato.
If at this stage you do abandon your exercise programme you soon become aware how much good it was doing you.
If on the other hand you had stuck with the programme during the slow period you would be so much closer to your ultimate goal -fitness.
Meditation works just like that.
It is an exercise for the mind and emotions, like all exercise programmes there is an immediate result.
Then there is a tendency to become impatient,but if you persist knowing the effort is well worth it,you soon begin to notice significant improvements.
You will have become more relaxed,more able to cope with everyday annoyances,your capacity to enjoy life will be enhanced, you will have your wits about you, you will be keener, more creative, better health, you will flourish as a human being.
