How to Make a Manga With Paint
- 1). Open MS Paint.
- 2). Select the circle tool on the toolbar at the top or side of the screen. The placement of the toolbar depends on whether you are using MS Paint for Microsoft Windows XP or Vista and newer versions. The newer MS Paint features tool bars at the top of the window.
- 3). Choose black for the color. Select a thin outline for the circle shape, also on the toolbar.
- 4). Sketch out the basic shape of your Manga character with circles. Use a circle for the head. Draw an oval for the body shape and use ovals for the arms and legs.
- 5). Switch to the pencil tool. Select a thin line, if using the newer version of MS Paint. Stay with the color black.
- 6). Outline your character's body by connecting the circles with the pencil tool. Use this time to clarify features and details, such as clothing.
- 7). Switch to the eraser tool on the tool bar. Select a small to medium size.
- 8). Erase all the lines you don't want showing on your Manga character. These include the original circles used to create the general shape of your character.
- 9). Switch back to the pencil tool and fill in any part of the character you erased by accident. You may want to select a thicker line for this part, if possible.
- 10
Click on the paint bucket icon. Use it to color in large areas of your manga character. If the paint bucket overflows, spilling into areas you don't want it to, this means the outline isn't properly connected. Switch back to the pencil tool and close any openings in the outline. - 11
Use the pencil tool to outline shaded areas of the Manga character. - 12
Fill in the shaded areas using the paint bucket, with a slightly darker shade of the color used in the surrounding region. If shading an area of skin, use a slightly darker flesh tone to indicate a source of light and dimension. - 13
Go back over the Manga character with a pencil tool. Use medium line, if possible, and black for the color.
