How to Remove the Fuse Box from a Volvo 850

104 2
    • 1). Pull the Volvo's hood latch and open the hood. Remove the negative and then the positive battery cables on your Volvo's battery. The battery is located on the driver's side of the engine block, just behind the headlight.

    • 2). Trace the positive and negative connector wires that are connected to your battery cables and which run from your battery to your Volvo's fuse box. Your 850's fuse box is also located on the driver's side of the engine block to the immediate left of your driver's side hood spring. Use a wrench to remove the negative wire from the negative connector on your fuse box, and the positive wire from the positive connector.

    • 3). Locate the retaining bolt holding your Volvo's fuse panel in place and remove it with your wrench. Remove the old fuse box from inside the engine compartment and set the new one in place.

    • 4). Pull the fuses from your old box and place them into your new fuse box, by following either the order of installation inside the old box -- or the fuse wiring diagram in your owner's manual -- or on the inside lid of your fuse box. Replace any burned out fuses with new fuses.

    • 5). Connect the positive and negative terminal wires to the corresponding terminals on your new fuse box. Also reconnect your Volvo's positive and negative battery cables.
