Custom Wood Blinds Vs Cut Down Wood Blinds

103 2
Taking a moment to reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of cut down wood blinds will bring us to consider custom made wood blinds, but what are the pros and cons of each? The advantages of cut downs are pretty simple, in the immediate time they will provide a cost saving, but then as a disadvantage we have to consider how far this cost saving will carry.
Simply for the reason that when you use a cut down blind the ends are generally left exposed and untreated, this not only collects dust more than a treated area but will also allow moisture to get inside the slat and can cause swelling, warping and inevitable a rotten slat that will need replacing.
If this occurs in one slat then the odds are that the others will soon become affected by the same issue and before long that early cost saving of using a cut down can turn into an expense, and a continuous nuisance of needing repair.
With this said we need to look at the custom made option, accepting the fact that they may cost a little more to purchase, we know they are professionally treated and will therefore have a longer life span with less maintenance needed throughout their life.
This makes custom-made a superior option when you buy blinds for any window or door.
As we know wood blinds add an elegant touch to any interior decor, whether they are cut down blinds or custom made blinds, but the consideration we have to keep in mind is for the long term and for the care that will be needed for each specific type.
If you can be sure that your blinds will never be subject to moisture than maybe a cut down will suffice.
But with most blinds being hung in an external window or door they are nearly all close to condensation at some point in the year and to eliminate the risk of swelling - and the other problems we have discussed - it may be worth considering a custom made blind for assurance of quality over many years.
So wood blinds are the right choice, the decision lays in whether they should be "cut to size" or "custom made", consider carefully the pros and cons of each when you decide to buy blinds to add that special touch to your home.
