How to Knit a Scottish Tam
- 1). Use the smaller needles to cast on 66 stitches. Join in the round.
- 2). Complete round one by using the purl stitch.
- 3). Continue the piece by alternately knitting one stitch then purling one stitch, until it measures 1 1/4-inches long.
- 4). Complete the next round using the purl stitch.
- 5). Change needles and stitch 11 knit stitches with the larger needles. Place a marker, then knit stitch until the end of the round.
- 6). Complete the next round by knitting to the marker. Make one stitch by lifting the horizontal thread lying between the needles. Place it onto the left needle. Work the new stitch through the back loop. Knit to the end of the round.
